Guards Find Explosive Along Road Near PA Prison

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) – Authorities say two guards found a small explosive along a road less than a tenth of a mile from a state prison in central Pennsylvania.

The Centre Daily Times reports that authorities say the three-inch explosive was found around 7:15 a.m. Saturday, just down Route 26 from Rockview state prison.

State police say that someone had tried to ignite the device but was unsuccessful.

Police eventually removed the device and destroyed it.
