Pa. Man Charged With Leaving Baby In Car To Gamble
BENSALEM, Pa. (AP) – A Philadelphia man is facing trial on charges he left his 15-month-old son inside his running car while he gambled at a casino for more than an hour.
Fifty-nine-year-old Donald Waige was arrested June 15. It was the first of seven reported incidents in which adults allegedly left children alone in vehicles at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Bucks County.
Waige was ordered held for trial Thursday on a childendangerment charge and will be arraigned Oct. 15. He declined to comment after the hearing.
Police said the child was strapped into a car seat and crying when they removed him from the car, which was running with the air conditioner on.
Parx officials say they have increased security patrols in response to a string of similar incidents since then.
