Grover D. Feight Sr.
Grover “Dale” Feight Sr., 80, Effort, Pa., died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Wilkes- Barre.
He was born in Breezewood on February 15, 1930, and was the son of the late Albert E. and Olive E. (Peck) Feight.
He owned and operated the Effort Diner for many years until retiring. In the 1960s, he owned the tom Swayer Diner in Allentown.
He served our country with dedication and courage in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville and a former member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Breezewood.
He was a former member of the West End Lions club. He took life to new heights when he was piloting a plane.
Surviving are his children: Susan Schafer and her husband, John, Chicago, Ill.; Judith Feight Csencsits and her husband, Paul, Bangor, Maine, where he resided for the past few months, and Abby Feight, Arizona; seven grandchildren: Katie, John, Maureen and Caroline Schafer, Christopher Csencsits, Emily and Willow Goff; two brothers: Reed Feight and his wife, Leta, Waterfall; and Arnold J. Feight, Everett; two sisters: Anna May Leidy and her husband, Charles, Breezewood; and Sylvia Winck and her husband, Dwight, Breezewood; very close and dear friends, Joanne and David Vass; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son, Grover “Jay” Dale Feight Jr., in 1989; and his loving companion for 30 years, Ramona L. Vass in 2010; and siblings: Loretta Umholtz, James Feight, Donald Feight and Pete Feight.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Breezewood. Rev. Andrew H. Winck and Pastor JR Winck officiated. Burial was made in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
