Hustontown Fire Co. held a tribute concert to Elvis by Jeff Krick at Forbes Road High School auditorium on Saturday night to a full house.

Around 80 family, friends and co-workers gathered at Center United Methodist Church community building Saturday afternoon to celebrate the 60th birthday of Neil Rotz of Waterfall. The group enjoyed a luau party and catered dinner.

Visiting with Martha Seville and other family members were her daughter, Nancy Welch of Ohio and grandson Brad and wife Jessica and children Shelby, Alison and Maggie of North Carolina.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Betty Berkstresser, who passed away last week.

Evelyn Strait of Harrisonville is now a resident in the long-term-care unit at Fulton County Medical Center. Her room number is 17A.

Gabrielle McGarvey will be getting around on crutches for a few weeks after spraining her ankle badly recently playing soccer for the McConnellsburg Lady Spartans.

Congratulations to Darin and Mary Wright of Wells Tannery on the birth of a son, Silas Avry, born on September 4 in Bedford Hospital. Silas has an older brother, Ethan.

Public Opinion weekly honor roll student-athletes were Tristin Deneen, Mc- Connellsburg soccer; Kaili Hockensmith, Forbes Road field hockey; Michael Runk, Forbes Road soccer; and Emily Watkins, McConnellsburg volleyball.

Public Opinion Female Athlete of the Week was Sarrah Pollock of McConnellsburg Lady Spartans soccer team. Sarrah is a freshman and plays the position of goalkeeper for the Spartans. She is the daughter of Joe and Michele Pollock.

Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene held its annual pig roast at the campgrounds on Saturday, with plenty of good food and entertainment from the Wingert family of Greencastle.

The descendants of John Harr held their annual family reunion on Sunday at the VFW picnic grounds.

Louise Long and her daughter, Beverly, and family of Greencastle visited Saturday with Louise’s daughter, Barbara Lehman, and family of Somerset County and enjoyed a trip to the Johnstown Mall.
