Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church Anniversary Service The Friends of Tonoloway will observe the 175th anniversary of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church’s brick church building at their annual fall service set for October 3 at 2 p.m. The order of service will include an inspirational message by Rev. Roger Truax, pastor at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren and treasurer of the Friends organization; special music by the Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute Choir; and congregational hymns. Tonoloway Church memorabilia will be displayed and refreshments are planned following the service. All are invited. Organized in 1745, Tonoloway is Fulton County’s oldest church and the 10th oldest Baptist church in the U.S. The church is located in southern Fulton County on state Route 655 two miles north of Hancock, Md.

Revival Revival services will be held at New Grenada Church of God September 26 to October 2, at 7:00 p.m. The speaker will e Pastor Lew button. there will be special music nightly. Rally Day services will be held September 6 at 10:00 a.m. with New Life For Girls.

Special Singing Caleb Myers will be singing at Humble Beginning Independent Church Sunday, September 26, during the 11:00 a.m. morning worship service. The church is located at 170 Horseshoe Drive, Warfordsburg, next to Bumper To Bumper. All are welcome.

Conference Broadcast For The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints The 180th semiannual general conference of the church will convene in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3, 2010. Messages of inspiration and guidance will be delivered by the First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other general authorities and general officers of the church. Session broadcasts may be viewed each day noon to 2:00 pm and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Anyone who is interested in learning more about our faith is welcome to enjoy the conference broadcast at the Ward building. RECREATION

Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturdays, September 25 and October 16, at 6:00 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and share talents or just come and enjoy the talent of others. Admission is free.

Teen Night Teen night will be held at the Fulton County Library Friday, September 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please use the community room entrance.

Horseshoe Tournament Eagles Aerie 4274 will hold a horseshoe tournament Saturday, September 25, at 10:00 a.m., at Anderson Grove picnic grounds, Rt. 475 north, 1/4 mile north of Maddensville. MHS Homecoming! McConnellsburg High School is having its second annual homecoming on Friday, October 8. It will start off with a junior high soccer game starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a varsity boys soccer game at 7:15 p.m. The soccer teams will be playing Fannett-Metal, and MHS would like to invite everyone and anyone who graduated from MHS to come and cheer on the Spartans! Shortly after the soccer games, there will be a dance held on the soccer field and everyone is invited. It will be a wonderful time to socialize with old friends and maybe even dance! So please, come and join us on Friday, October 8, to cheer on our team and have a good time.

Cove Mills Harvest Reunion Cove Mills Harvet reunion will be held September 25 and 26. Demos of threshing grain, baling straw, crushing stone, sawing lumber, making rope and more. Steam engines, antique, restored and unrestored tractors featuring MM, hit-and-miss engines, old-time machinery, and antique horse drawn hearse. Tractor parade, pony cart ride, kids pedal pull and kiddy train ride. Southern Fulton FFA will be serving breakfast on Saturday. Apple butter boil, cider making, food vendors, flea market, arts and crafts. Bluegrass, gospel and country music on Saturday afternoon and evening. Join on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for an old-time church service under the tent with Kenny Johnson. The show starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Meeting Change Needmore vol Fire Co. and Relief Association’s monthly meeting scheduled for October 7 has been changed to Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Historical Society Meeting For one long week in 1966, local rescuers searched for high school teenager Peggy Ann Bradnick, hidden in the mountains around Fulton County by her kidnapper, “Bicycle Pete.” All are invited to hear her personal story in the McConnellsburg High School auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14. Sponsored by the Fulton County Historical Society, the meeting is open to the public free of charge, but an offering will be lifted to cover costs. Animal Welfare Meeting Animal welfare follow-up organizational meeting will be held Thursday, September 30, at 6:30 p.m., in the conference room on the lower level of the Services for Children building, 219 North Second Street, red brick building north of the commissioners’ office building. Keefer-Weller Reunion The 17th annual Keefer-Weller reunion will be held Saturday, September 25, at Camp Harding County Park in Pectonville, Md. Awards will be given for best main dish as well as the best dessert and drawing for door prizes also. Hustontown/FR Alumni Banquet Hustontown/Forbes Road Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, October 2, at Hustontown Firehall. The doors will open at 4:00 p.m. to come early and visit with friends before the meal is served at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $9 per person. Free Community Meal A free community meal will be held on Saturday, October 2, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Knobsville United Methodist Church, Waterfall Road, in honor and in memory of John Bivens and Gladys Kendall. The menu will be turkey, mashed potatoes, filling, gravy, mixed vegetables, relish tray, rolls and dessert. Everyone is invited to attend.

Food Auction Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction Thursday, October 14, at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. There will be a new vendor with merchandise to be auctioned off.

Chicken BBQ Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m. Menu will include half a chicken, baked beans, applesauce, cake and roll.

Pancake Supper An all-you-can-eat pancake supper will be held at Bedford Chapel Church on Rt. 643, 4570 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, Saturday, October 9, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, buckwheat cakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Everyone welcome.

Chicken BBQ Centerview Cemetery Association will hold a chicken barbecue at Center Community Building September 25. Serving from noon to 1:30 p.m. Menu will be half a chicken, baked beans, applesauce, roll, dessert and drink. Eatin or takeouts available. All proceeds go to the maintenance of the Center Cemetery. The community building is located off Rt. 655 between Forbes Road School and Waterfall on the Dublin Mills road, first left. Forbes Road Open House Forbes Road School District is holding an open house for students and parents on Thursday, September 23, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Students enrolled in K-4 through 12th grade are encouraged to attend.

Veterans Affairs Closed The Veterans Affairs Office will not be open September 22. It will be open as usual September 29.

Computer Classes Free computer classes will be held at the Fulton County Library Thursday, September 30. Computer Basics from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Internet Basics from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and Internet Safety from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please call the library at 717-485-5327 to register.

55-Alive Driving Class The classroom refresher course for 55-Alive/Mature driving will be offered at Warfordsburg Senior Center September 28 and 29. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to noon and two days of classes are required. Preregister, either in person or by mailing the check payable to AARP for $14 (per person nonmember) or $12 (per person AARP member) to the Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Graduates of the class, age 55 and over, will be eligible for the three-year auto insurance discounts. If you plan on staying for lunch, following the class, please be sure to let Cindy know at 294-6020 one day in advance or when registering. There are no tests involved.

Horse Owners’ Course “Things are Changing” is the title of an exciting horse owners’ two-day short course being offered by Penn State Cooperative Extension offices in Mif- flin and Juniata counties and the Penn State Extension Equine Natural Working Group. It will be held on Saturdays, October 9 and 23, 2010, at the Penn State Learning Center- Lewistown from 9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. each day. Deadline for registration is Friday, October 1, 2010. There is a $40 registration fee per person, which includes lunch each day, a soil test kit and an information resource notebook. Carwash/Car Seat Safety Check A carwash is being sponsored by the Fulton County Juvenile Probation Office on Saturday, September 25, beginning at 9 a.m. at Great Cove Auto, McConnellsburg. All donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. All money raised will be donated to the Safe Kids Network for the purchase of car seats. In addition, Safe Kids will be offering infant and child car seat safety checks until the event concludes at noon.

Democratic Dinner The Democratic dinner will be held October 2, at 6:30 p.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. Tickets will be available at the door or from committee members.

Scrap Drive A scrap drive will be held to benefit the Fulton County Community Christian School (FCCCS). Bring automobiles, farm machinery, appliances, etc., to Winfield Salvage Co. (WSC). WSC will pay FCCCS for your scrap metals. FCCCS will provide documentation for tax records. This is a great way to recycle and help out the school. Pickup is available for large items. VFW Election The annual election of officers of the Fulton Overseas Veterans Association will take place at the regular monthly meeting on October 7, 2010.

Mum, Pumpkin, Gourd Sale Saint Stephen Family Life Committee is sponsoring a mum, pumpkin and gourd sale on the church grounds. Cost of the mums is $4.50. The cost of pumpkins are $6.50, $5 and $2.25. Cost of gourds are large 2 for $2; and small 4 for $1.

Soap-Making Class The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is hosting a soap making class on Tuesday, September 20, at 6:00 p.m., at the church located in the Penn’s Village Shopping Center by the drug store. Anyone interested in attending please contact 717-977-8082.

Buck Valley Bingo Bingo will be held at the Buck Valley Park September 24. Kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. and bingo will be at 6:00 p.m., along with 50/50 games.

FULTON FALL FOLK FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES

FFFF Food Stand Center United Methodist Church will hold a food stand in the Grange Hall in Waterfall beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16. Available will be baked goods, sandwiches, drinks and apple dumplings. Proceeds for the day will go to the Centerview Cemetery Association.

Breakfast Buffet Cito United Methodist Church will be serving a breakfast buffet on Saturday, October 16, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at Cito Fellowship Hall, 3746 Cito Road, Mc- Connellsburg. The buffet-style breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, chipped beef gravy, toast, orange juice and coffee. No charge. Donations accepted.

Turkey Supper A turkey supper will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg, October 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Menu will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, peas and carrots, applesauce, rolls, butter, desserts, coffee, punch and water. Carryouts available at rear entrance.

FFFF Fashion Show Time to get your outfit at Second Time Around in Waterfall for the spectacular annual Fashion Show held each year at the Fulton Fall Folk Festival in Waterfall. This year it will be held at Knepper’s Feed Mill porch Saturday, October 16, at 1:30 p.m. Hours at Second Time are Tuesday and Thursday, noon until 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 2:00 p.m.

FFFF Vendors Anyone interested in setting up a vendor tale at the Waterfall Fall Festival on Saturday, October 16, please contact either 814-685-3236 or 814-685-3911. There is no charge for setting up. No yard sale tables and no duplications of food vendors.
