It’s OK To Take Our Country Back

To the Editor:

A friend of mine, who happens to be a pastor summed it up pretty well when he said, “You know, everything that was right and good not so long ago in this country, is wrong. And everything that was once totally wrong is now OK.” All the lines we and our elected officials once dared not cross are not only blurred, they’re just gone!

No one for instance, would have even dreamed of making it easy for illegal aliens to pour across our border and suck our social programs dry. And, it’s politically correct for those aliens to demand it. It is not politically correct for you to object. Or how ‘bout the Legislature voting themselves a raise and then almost in the same breath, telling the rest of the state that they have to tighten their belts. That’s OK now? Is it OK if you are laid off because your company doesn’t know what the feds are going to do next? And how in Sam’s Hill is it OK for a handful of self-serving politicians to shove a law down your throat that few even read, may be unconstitutional, is certainly socialist in nature and then exempt themselves from it? How in God’s name is it now wrong to put a cross up on public land and OK to build a mosque just steps from Ground Zero?

We have slowly been sucked down into some sort of “Alice in Wonderland” existence, one small insignificant step at a time, where the will of the people and patriotism are ridiculed as nonsense. You no longer know what’s good for you or yours. The mad hatters in Washington and Harrisburg now make the rules according to what they think is good for you. After all, they are so much smarter and so much more politically correct than you are. And they feel just fine about bending the rules or outright cheating to get it done. And when they’re forced to tell you what they did, concealing the truth or just plain lies are just fine, too. Is this the way it’s supposed to be? Is this where a “fundamental transformation of America” has lead us?

This didn’t happen because we were somehow overwhelmed by a massive army of “progressives.” It happened because we were sure it couldn’t happen here. So, there was no reason to get excited. There was no reason to get involved. There was no reason to hold dear what made this country what it once was. And there was certainly no reason to get off our complacent hindparts and vote.

It is now OK to say we’ve had enough. It is now OK to say “This is where it stops“ and mean it !
