Tonoloway 175th Anniversary The Friends of Tonoloway will observe the 175th anniversary of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church’s brick church building at their annual fall service set for October 3 at 2 p.m. The order of service will include an inspirational message by Rev. Roger Truax, pastor at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren and treasurer of the Friends organization; special music; and congregational hymns. Refreshments will be served in Tonoloway’s churchyard at the conclusion of the service. All are invited. Tonoloway is located in southern Fulton County on state Route 655 two miles north of Hancock, Md.

Women Of Faith Conference Women of Faith “Over the Top” and “Imagine” pre-conference will be held in Philadelphia, Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11. The Mc- Connellsburg Charge has 10 tickets available. The group will be car-pooling and staying at the Sheraton Philadelphia Center Hotel. Cost for the weekend is $139, which includes lunch on both days, but don’t let that stop you we can find a way to help you, if cost is an issue. Fall Church Schedule McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church announces its return to a fall schedule beginning September 12, with Sunday School for all ages starting at 9:30 a.m., fellowship time at 10:30 a.m. and worship starting at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend. Homecoming Services Rehobeth Cemetery Association’s annual homecoming service will be held at Rehobeth United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 5, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Frank Kocek will be in charge with Rev. Duane Jensen of Hancock United Methodist Church as guest speaker. Special music will be provided by Sharon Eby of Hagerstown and Bethany Blankley of Berkeley Springs. Memorial gifts by mail are appreciated. Lunch will be in the pavilion after the service. Meats, breads, desserts, drinks and utensils are furnished; however, covered dish would also be appreciated. Sideling Hill Church Homecoming Sideling Hill Christian Church will be celebrating its 65th annual homecoming on Sunday, September 5. Services include Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., worship service at 10:30 a.m., with guest speaker Mac Miller providing the message, followed by a basket lunch at noon. An afternoon service will be held at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. William Swope providing the message and special music by the Country Christians. There will also be a hymn sing at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome. The church is located at 10424 Sipes Mill Road, Needmore.

Block Party Rehoboth New Life will be hosting a community block party Saturday, September 4, starting at noon until 4 p.m. at Needmore Firehall. This is a totally free event to the public. The block party will feature a free yard sale, free food and drinks, free games, free moonbounce and giant rockwall/slide, free petting zoo, free cake walk and free live music featuring local worship bands. There will also be many giveaways, including girls and boys bikes, scooters, many gift certificates and donations from local businesses. RNL will also be receiving donations for the Needmore Fire Dept. for the purchase of a thermal-imaging camera. Bring lawn chairs. Outdoor Movie Night Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church will be sponsoring an outdoor movie night on Saturday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m. The movie “Ace of Hearts” will be shown. Cookout and popcorn at 7:00 p.m. and movie at 8:00 p.m. This event is free to the community, so bring family, friends and comfy chair and enjoy the evening.

RECREATION

X Card Shoot X card shoots every Friday night starting September 17 until November 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fulton County Rifle & Pistol Club. Lots of fun and great prizes.

Mic Night Mic night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, September 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All are welcome. Food and drink will be available. More information may be obtained by calling 717-294-6020.

Senior Center Open House An open house will be held at Hustontown Senior Center Wednesday, September 8, that will also celebrate the 65th wedding anniversary of Raymond and Laura “Becky” Martz. Wellness Walk/Run Club The Fulton County Medical Center Wellness Walk/Run Club meets every Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at Lions Club Park, McConnellsburg, for one-, threeand five-mile mapped run/walks. No membership fee. Call Allison Fraker for more details at 717-485-2870, ext. 6390.

Museum Autumn Tea The annual Fulton County Historical Society Autumn Tea will be held at the Fulton House on Saturday, September 18, at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $ 9 for adults and $ 4.50 for children. Sight & Sound Trip McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a bus trip to the Sight & Sound Theatre to see “Joseph” on Saturday, September 11. The bus will leave the Presbyterian Church at 11:30 a.m. and be returning between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Cost is $100 for adults, $75 for teens (13-18 years), $50 for children (3-12 years). Tribute To Elvis Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor a tribute to Elvis in concert by Jeff Krick at Forbes Road High School Auditorium on September 18. PARSE Meeting Fulton County PARSE will start holding meetings again in September, the second Wednesday of each month, at the VFW.

Singles To Meet Knobsville singles will meet Monday, September 13, at 9 a.m. at K’s Place.

Medical Center Auxiliary Meeting Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, September 7, at 10:00 a.m., in the activities room of the center.

Farm Women Meeting Fulton County Society of Farm Women will meet Thursday, September 2, at 7:00 p.m., at the home of Pam Glenn. This will be a planning meeting for a possible upcoming tea, the family Christmas banquet and playing bingo.

Conservation Board Meetings Fulton County Conservation District Board of Directors monthly meetings for 2010 will be held on the following dates and times: September 9, 7:30 p.m.; October 14, 7:30 p.m.; November 11, 10:30 a.m.; and December 9, 10:30 a.m. The budget and finance, personnel and programs and services committees meet one-half hour prior to the regular board meeting. All district meetings are held in the Conservation District board room located at 216 North Second Street, McConnellsburg, unless otherwise noted.

REUNIONS

Kuhn-Clevenger-Kendle Reunion The Kuhn-Clevenger- Kendle reunion will be held Sunday, September 19, at the Upton Community Center at noon. Bring a covered dish and drinks for your family and items for the auction.

Waters Reunion The Waters reunion will be held September 11 at 10:00 a.m. Please bring a covered dish and drink.

Bishop Reunion The Jesse and Ruth Bishop family reunion will be held Sunday, September 5, at Warfordsburg Lions Park. Dinner at 1. Bring covered dish.

Food/Yard Sale A food and yard sale will be held at Clear Ridge Community Building September 2 and 3 at 8:00 a.m. Served will be soup, sandwiches and pies.

Hustontown/FR Alumni Banquet Hustontown/Forbes Road Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, October 2, at Hustontown Firehall. The doors will open at 4:00 p.m. to come early and visit with friends before the meal is served at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $9 per person. Send checks payable to Hustontown/ Forbes Road Alumni Assoc. to Sarah Shaw, P.O. Box 446, Hustontown, PA 17229. Reservations need to be made by September 19. Chicken BBQ/Bake Sale A chicken barbecue and bake will be held Saturday, September 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Rock Hill Mennonite Church. The church is located three miles south of McConnellsburg on Route 522. Turn right onto Back Run Road and left onto Rock Hill Road. Additional information may be obtained by calling 485-9498.

Chicken BBQ A chicken barbecue will be held Saturday, September 18, at Burnt Cabins Grist Mill at 4:00 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and under 10 is free. A cancer benefit auction will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available on site or call 717-987-3244. No alcoholic beverages. Homemade ice cream will also be sold.

Ice Cream Festival Fairview United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival September 11. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be for sale. The festival will begin at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome.

Free Meal A free meal will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Third Street, McConnellsburg, the second Tuesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in for fellowship and good food.

Forbes Road Open House Forbes Road School District is holding an open house for students and parents on Thursday, September 23, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Students enrolled in K-4 through 12th grade are encouraged to attend.

55-Alive Driving Class The classroom refresher course for 55-Alive/Mature driving will be offered at Warfordsburg Senior Center September 28 and 29. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to noon and two days of classes are required. Preregister, either in person or by mailing the check payable to AARP for $14 (per person nonmember) or $12 (per person AARP member) to the Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Graduates of the class, age 55 and over, will be eligible for the three-year auto insurance discounts. If you plan on staying for lunch, following the class, please be sure to let Cindy know at 294-6020 one day in advance or when registering. There are no tests involved.

FFFF Vendors Anyone interested in setting up a vendor tale at the Waterfall Fall Festival on Saturday, October 16, please contact either 814-685-3236 or 814-685-3911. There is no charge for setting up. No yard sale tables and no duplications of food vendors.

Fall Mum/Bake Sale Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church will hold a fall mum and bake sale Saturday, September 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Center.

Mum Sale Saint Stephen Family Life Committee is sponsoring a mum and fall flower sale on Friday, September 10, in front of Snyder Insurance office. Also available willb e pumpkins and fall flags.

Hunter-Trapper Education Course A Hunter-Trapper education course will be held September 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and September 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required at PGC Web site at www.pgc.state.pa.us. Click on education/ hunter education class schedule. Class limit is 65 students. Bring bag lunch for Saturday. Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church Photos Wanted Friends of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church is seeking old photographs of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church and/or activities that took place in the churchyard to copy for display at the Friends’ Oct. 2, 2010, worship service at the church. The 2 p.m. service will celebrate the brick church building’s 175th anniversary. All photos will be returned and should be submitted to the Friends by Sept. 5, 2010. Contact Lindsay R. Hospice Volunteers Needed Lutheran Home Care & Hospice Inc. is offering free hospice volunteer training sessions for individuals who would like to visit and provide support to local clients and families coping with terminal illness.
