“Walk For Recovery” Stops Here In County
John Overby’s trek began on foot in Eden Prairie, Minn., on July 5. Almost two months later, Overby, a recovering alcoholic, brought his message to Fulton County as part of “John’s Walk for Recovery.” Making a pit stop in McConnellsburg Monday afternoon, Overby spoke briefly with the “News” regarding his walk that was initiated to help bring awareness to and fight both alcohol and drug addiction. Along the trail Overby has been raising money to benefit a portion of this project that includes the creation of a documentary called “The Choosing.” A filmmaker, Overby intends to distribute the free documentary to schools, rehabilitation facilities and the general public. John’s walk is anticipated to wrap up on Sunday, August 29, on the Capitol steps in Washington, D.C.
