Preceptor Gamma Pi Completes Successful Year

Preceptor Gamma Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International recently completed a rewarding and successful year and elected their officers for the coming year. The installed officers are Nancy Younker, president; Anna Maye Sigel, vice president; Yvonne Miller, extension officer; Dawn Hill, recording secretary; Patty Keefer, corresponding secretary; and Joyce Henry, treasurer.

The chapter conducted monthly meetings with a cultural program at each session. Additionally, membership attended special cultural events, including a show at Totem Pole, the three county school musicals, a game night, a movie, the Charlestown Races and a showing of the “Terra Cotta Warriors” at the Smithsonian Museum.

Susan Householder and Amy Hill are rushed as new members and each received the pledge ritual and Ritual of Jewels degree.

The chapter membership conducted many traditional socials, including the birthday party, a beginning day picnic, fall banquet, Christmas dinner party, crowning of Preceptor Queen Lisa Fischer, Mother’s Day and conducted the Founder’s Day banquet for the three county Beta Sigma Phi sororities.

The membership enjoyed several special social outings through the year, including a picnic at the home of Vonnie Miller, dinner at several dining areas, the benefit Sweetheart Dinner and Dance held by sister chapter Iota Lambda, a graduation party for two of their members: Joyce Henry and Eelice Gantz, and a game night.

The members conducted two major fundraising events: the selling of nuts and a very successful benefit basket bingo that raised more than $8,000 for a local child cancer victim.

Service projects included Relay For Life, Fulton County Camp Cadet and the first annual Sally Spaulding Duck Race. The membership contributed to and/or participated in a total of 14 additional service areas, including the three county school musicals, Southern Fulton Honor Society, Hancock Rotary, Union Rescue Mission, Semper Fi Fund, Relay For Life luminaries, Christmas wrapping at Catholic Mission, Pennsylvania District Chorus at Southern Fulton School, and the SFHS seniors benefit bingo.An art scholarship was offered to a SFHS senior.

Preceptor Chapter received the Three Star Yardstick award from Beta Sigma Phi International. The chapter is now busy in their new year with service to others as a priority.
