Richard K. Boden
Richard K. “Dick” or “Big Daddy” Boden, 73, Hustontown, died Monday, August 16, 2010, after a battle with cancer.
He was born June 18, 1937, in Hyndman, Pa., a son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Hughes) Boden. He was married to Corlee B. “Tina” (Divelbliss) Boden on December 13, 1958. She preceded him in death May 11, 1996.
Surviving are four sons: Richard A. “Chip” Boden and wife Karen, Big Cove Tannery; James H. “Jim” Boden, Indianapolis, Ind.; Kenneth Dean Boden and wife Vickie, Orbisonia; Dennis L. “Denny” Boden and fiance Misty Lane, Hustontown; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four brothers: John Boden and wife Kay, Shirleysburg; Jim Boden and wife Karen, Willow Hill; Bob Boden and wife Dee, Mercersburg; Joe Boden and wife Ginny, Lewisberry; two sisters: Minne Foor and husband Dick, Harrisonville; Ruth Lautzbaugh and husband George, Newville; and a brother-in-law, Ronald “Boe” Divelbliss, and wife Arlene, Abbottstown.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Charles and Lloyd Boden and Evelyn Souders.
He was a member of Village Lighthouse Chapel, Cross Keys.
He had worked as a lineman for many years.
He served in the United States Air Force.
He was a former member of Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co.
He was an avid fisherman and will be remembered for his storytelling and his orneriness.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, at 11:00 a.m., at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Pastor Judy Rowles will officiate. Burial will be made at a later date in the Germany Valley Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
