John W. Young

Hancock, 67

John Wesley Young, 67, Hancock, Md., died Friday, August 6, 2010, at NMS Healthcare in Hagerstown.

Born May 11, 1943, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Frank Luther Young and the late Virginia Fink Young Dailey.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs. He attended Berkeley Springs High School and had worked as a machinist with Mack Truck in Hagerstown. He served with the United States Marine Corps during the early 1960s. He collected guns and enjoyed working on cars.

He is survived by two daughters: Lisa Kay Bean, Hedgesville, W.Va., and Penny Sue Clark, Warfordsburg; one sister, Carol Ann Downs, Falling Waters, W.Va.; six grandchildren: Jennifer Renee Young, Jonathan Tyler Clark, Morgan Collins Clark and Megan Brooke Clark, all of Warfordsburg; Tara Beth Young nd Douglas James Bean, both of Hedgesville, W.Va., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Darlene Colins Young; one son, John Leon Young; and a brother, Franklin Roger Young.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, August 10, at noon, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs. Fr. Leonard A. Smith was the celebrant. Interment, with graveside military honors provided by Tri-State Honor Guard, was made in Greenway Cemetery.

Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, was in charge of arrangements.
