George N. Mellott

Harrisonville, 86

George N. Mellott, 86, Harrisonville died Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Fulton County Medical Center, Mc- Connellsburg.

He was born in Pittsburgh, on December 6, 1923, the son of the late George C. and Louemma Catherine (Hann) Mellot. He was the husband of Alice J. (De- Shong) Mellott, whom he married on May 29, 1950.

He was a member of Sideling Hill Christian Church Needmore. He was also a former member of the American Legion and the NRA. He was avid hunter, loved NASCAR and football, especially the Steelers.

He worked as a district maintenance engineer at PennDOT before retiring in 1986 after 13 years.

He served in the U.S. Army as a private in World War II, serving in China, Burma and India.

Also surviving besides his wife are his nine children: daughter Dianna Rohm, wife of William; son George Mellott, husband of Linda; daughter Bonnie Keefer, wife of Randy; son Harry Mellott, husband of Sue; son Brian Mellott, companion of Jalene Mihalick; daughter Alice Gordon, wife of Brian; son Lynn Mellott, companion of Rob Cook; son Shawn Mellott, husband of Laura; and daughter Becky Peck, wife of Rodney; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Barry S. Mellott; three brothers: Emmett, Wilbur and Harold Mellott; three sisters: Ella Kaltaler, Marie and Catherine Mellott.

Funeral services were held at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8. Rev. William Swope, Pastor Dick Bernhard and Rev. Terri Zastovnik officiated. Interment was at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore.

Military services were conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.

Arrangements were made by the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, Pa.
