Edgar E. Keefer Sr.
Edgar E. “Manny” Keefer Sr., 85, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
He was born in Ayr Township on July 4, 1925, the son of the late David L. and Ruth (Downin) Keefer. He was the widower of Bannie “Dimple” (Kuhn) Keefer, whom he married on March 28, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1991.
He was a lifetime member of the Corner Church of the Brethren, Big Cove Tannery. He worked as a dairy farmer. He and his wife operated the farm for most of their lives. He also served as a township supervisor in the 1960s. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and was a avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his son, Edgar E. “Gene” Keefer Jr., husband of Harriett of Big Cove Tannery; daughter Trudy Smith, wife of Gerald of McConnellsburg; son Rodney A. Keefer of Sumter, S.C.; daughter Linda Mc- Fadden, wife of Tim of Big Cove Tannery; son Coy N. Keefer, husband of Vicki of Pinewood, S.C.; brother Woodrow W. Keefer of Mc- Connellsburg; and sister Edith Seville of McConnellsburg; by 17 grandchildren: Ginger Metz, Tammy Barnes, Gary Keefer, Wendy Farling, Gerald Smith II, Joanna Brady, Jolinda Wilson, Tim McFadden, John McFadden, Teresa McFadden, James McFadden, Allen Keefer, Karenina Reynolds, Justin Keefer, Brandon Keefer, Benjamin Keefer, Shane Keefer; 28 great-grand children: Joshua, Amanda, Whitney Price, McKenzie Metz, Emily and Scott Hoover, Garet, Johnathan and Ian Farling, Cassidy and Jeanette Pittman, Isaiah Barnes, Hannah, Lynneah and Elaina Brady, Susan and Gerald III Smith, Larry II and Beau Wilson, Scott Mc- Fadden, Kyleigh Smalley, Kyle McFadden, Lance and Gage McFadden, Briana, Bowen and Jaelyn McFadden, Gracie Reynolds, and a great-great-grandchild, Deacon Price.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Mack N. Keefer, Daniel A. Keefer, Beauford P. Keefer; sisters: Mildred “Dolly” Seville and Mattie Rinker.
Religious services were at the Corner Church of the Brethren, Big Cove Tannery, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010. Rev. Delmas Bard officiated. Interment was at Union Cemetery, Mc- Connellsburg.
