Pa. Marine, 21, Killed In Afghanistan
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) – A Marine from central Pennsylvania has been killed in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department announced Thursday that 21-year-old Lance Cpl. Abram Howard of Williamsport died while supporting combat operations in Helmand province.
Howard’s family says he had been in Afghanistan since February and was due to return home from military police duty in a few weeks. They say he was killed by a roadside bomb on Tuesday.
Howard graduated in 2007 from Williamsport Area High School, where he wrestled and played football. He was also an avid hunter who came from a long line of Marines.
Howard had been assigned to the Headquarters and Service Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, Marine Forces Reserve.
