Mabel J. Gabler

83, Chambersburg

Mabel J. Gabler, 83, formerly of 740 Norland Avenue, Apt. 62, Chambersburg, Pa., passed away at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, at ManorCare Health Services.

Born August 12, 1926, in Robertsdale, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Allen and Rosella Seilar Foore.

Mabel had been employed at the former J. Schoeneman Co. in Chambersburg for more than 15 years. She attended Freedom in Christ Church and was a member of the ladies auxiliary of AMVETS Post 224 and the McConnellsburg VFW. Mabel enjoyed doing puzzles, watching baseball and softball, and babysitting her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Her beloved husband, Robert G. Gabler, preceded her in death on May 6, 1979.

She is survived by six children: Richard A. Foore and wife Ramona of Rosemont, Minn.; Robert H. Gabler and wife Margaret of Webster, S.D.; Nancy Woodal and husband Larry Richard of Chambersburg; Elsie Wetzel and friend Daniel Kirkpatrick of Chambersburg; Glenn W. Gabler and wife Nancy of Chambersburg; and Kenneth E. Gabler and wife Sara of Greencastle; 16 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Hazel Carbaugh, of Upper Strasburg; and two brothers, Donald Foore and wife Peggy of Upper Strasburg and Clifford Foore and wife Cheryl of Shippensburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Russell, and two brothers, Allen and John Foore.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pa., with Rev. John Pogue officiating. Interment was made in Pleasant Hall Cemetery.
