The McConnellsburg girls soccer team held their soccer camp last week at the Lions Club field under the instruction of Roger Bernecker of Chambersburg, along with their coach, Toby McGarvey. More than 20 players participated.

Tobias McGarvey celebrated his fourth birthday with his dad, Toby, Mom Dena and sisters Tessa and Hannah and Justin Strait at Chuck-E-Cheese in Hagerstown. His birthday was July 20. He will be going to K-4 when school starts.

Anita Bishop is back working at Fulton County Medical Center after having surgery on both of her hands.

Get-well wishes to Susan Hill of Needmore who suffered a heart attack and is home recuperating after surgery in Harrisburg. Susan is a longtime employee of NAPA Auto Parts.

John and Pam Ott vacationed last week in Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington, N.C., with their son, Jordan, and friend of Michigan and daughter Emile, who is a student at Duke University.

Tessa McGarvey, Justin, Selena, Zachary, Craig Strait and friend Tabby and parents Tom and Denise Strait recently vacationed in Ocean City, Md.

Pastor John Godissart, Jodi Hann, Kacey Hann, Vickie Gordon, Sue Keebaugh, and Larry and Kelli Cordell spent last week in Huntingdon at the Green Hills Special Needs Adult Camp assisting the adults.

Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to the family of Justin Hudson, 13, who passed away last Thursday after a long battle with can- cer.

Congratulataions to Tonya Marie Grissinger, who graduated with honors from James Buchanan High School recently and was accepted at Wilson College, majoring in veterinary. She is the daughter of Todd and Barbara Grissinger of Mercersburg, granddaughter of Grace Grissinger, a resident at Fulton Co. Medical Center Long-Term-Care Unit, and Richard and Mary Jane Wilson of Needmore.

Dick and Grace Barton will observe their 64th wedding anniversary on July 31.

Fulton County native Brenda Brown Mull, a patient in ManorCare in Chambersburg, PA 17201, would love to hear from local folks. Her condition is improving slowly, and she is hoping to be able to walk again with extensive therapy. Her room number is F-27, and her phone number is 372-0761.

Roger Sowers is home recuperating after spending last week in Chambersburg Hospital with high blood pressure and kidney complications.

It happened this week: The Ford Motor Co. sold its first automobile, the Ford Model A, in 1903. While $880 was enough to buy one in 1903, the last known Model A recently sold at auction for $693,000.

Country shortcuts: Dress up a birthday cake with Lifesavers candy. They double as candleholders and keep the wax from dripping onto the icing.

A healthy and happy retirement to Beverly Wisner, who retired last Friday from the banking industry. She has been employed with F&M Trust, formerly Fulton County National Bank and Trust Co., for 43 years.

Jean Mellott recently had heart surgery in Chambersburg Hospital and is now home recuperating.

The “Christian Follies Journey’’ held Friday and Saturday night was very enjoyable, touching, and well attended.
