John and Mary Mumma and Buzz and Bea Covert enjoyed dining at the Golden Corral in Hagerstown this weekend in honor of Buzz’s birthday.

Congratulations to Chris and Jody Knepper Newman on the birth of their second son, Elijah Robert, on Friday, July 23. Elijah weighed in at 6 pounds, 14.8 ounces. Big brother Isaiah is still pondering the advantages of having a playmate.

Corin and Cody Crawford of Hebron, Ky., recently spent a week visiting with their Uncle Gordon and Aunt Donna Locke and family, Grandpap George Locke and Aunt Irene Park.

Adam, Amanda, Toryn, Cameron and Brayden Locke visited with Gordon and Donna Locke on Sunday evening.

The Walnut Grove Senior Youth Group recently spent a long weekend enjoying the warm weather in Ocean City. >A good time was had by everyone swimming, ice skating, eating and shopping.

Cody Myers spent last week in Fargo, N.D., as an assistant wrestling coach for the Pennsylvania National Cadet team.

The Three Springs Fire Co. will be hosting a Chicken BBQ on Sunday, August 15 beginning at 11 a.m.

Thanks to all who donated items for Sharon Book’s fundraiser last Saturday. We hope you received some very nice items, for a nice price.

Special thanks to all those in the community who helped with the annual fire convention held last week at Shade Gap. The annual Shade Gap Picnic will begin the first week in August!

Immanuel Bible Church Vacation Bible School hosted nearly 100 children and adults nightly. A big thankyou to all who planned, helped, attended and participated.

Tom Gartland of Florida has been visiting with Jen Ramsey and family the past few weeks.

A special thank-you to all those who came to support John Puskarich of Penn Central Physical Therapy as he embarks on his new adventure.

The Clear Ridge Festival was a sellout on Thursday. The next festival is scheduled for mid-September. Some Maddensville folks spotted enjoying the homemade goodies were Bea Covert, Hull and Joan Holtry, Sam and Sylvia Park, and family and Art Brown.

Visiting recently with the Steve and Karen Grissinger family were Brent Carlson, Donna Locke, Nora Grissinger, Sandy and Heath Hilbert, and Tom and Mamie Streightiff.

Mark your calendars for the annual yard sale at Immanuel Bible Church on Starr Road, Three Springs. Fifteen families have signed up for the yard sale on August 7 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. A food stand and baked goods will also be available.
