Town Agrees To Lease With Marcellus Driller
IMPERIAL, Pa. (AP) – Officials in North Fayette have secured a lease with a Texasbased energy drilling company over Marcellus Shale drilling in the township.
Township supervisors this week agreed to let Range Resources drill horizontally into township property, but not on it. The township will be given a flat per-acre payment and a share of sales of gas taken from the land.
The 5-year lease covers 164 acres of property.
Township Manager Bob Grimm says the township wanted to have at least some control over the drilling, which led them to the agreement. He says the township has not decided what it will do with the money from the lease.
