The Forbes Road School Board held a brief meeting last Monday evening and mostly dealt with personnel issues.

The board accepted the resignation of Helen M. Lutz as a Title 1 aide effective immediately. Paul Swope was hired as the elementary school principal at a salary of $58,000. He will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Byron Helsel earlier this year.

The board voted to hire Mitchell Persun for the 2010-2011 school year to fill the vo-ag position. His salary was set at $32,500. Robin Whitsell was appointed special education coordinator with a supplemental contract for $3,600.

In other personnel business, the board was informed of the resignation of Elizabeth Cheatle as the Fulton County Area Vo-Tech school director.

During miscellaneous business, the board approved a request from Jeremy Hollinshead to use the facilities for the Steven Szwydek Semper Fi Memorial 5k Run/Walk on April 16, 2011.

Most of Monday night’s meeting was spent in executive session interviewing candidates for elementary principal.
