Much needed rain fell in abundance last week cancelling most outdoor activities, but was a boon to the farmers. ’90McConnellsburg Municipal Authority’s new water tank is officially finished and open for business. The erection of the tank was completed three weeks ago by Mid-Atlantic Storage Systems and customers began drinking water from the new 500,000 gallon tank on July 2. The tank, manufactured by the A.O. Smith Silo folks, was constructed and erected for approximately $158,000, and the total cost of the project was nearly $245,000.

A 1990 Forbes Road High School student died last weekend from injuries in a two-vehicle accident July 12 in Bedford County, which also resulted in the death of a Huntingdon County man. Amy Barber, 19, Wells Tannery, died early Saturday afternoon at the Altoona Hospital. Also killed in the accident was Larry Lehman of Huntingdon.

Fulton County Little League Pirates finished this year’s season 14-4 to capture the league championship. Members of the team are Loy Garber, coach, Ryan Brown, Scott Wilson, Kory Koble, Tyrone Jefferson, Mark Carbaugh, coach, Lucas Carbaugh, Ryan Earley, Troy Cromwell, Nathan Horton, Darron Suders, Billy Gracey, Toby Brown, Allen Shives, Mark Watkins and Roger Watkins, coach.

Fulton County Little League All-Star Team is made up of 11- and 12-year-olds chosen from the regular league. This year’s team consists of Tim Souders, manager, Teddy Hall, coach, Kenny Welsh, coach, Mike Keebaugh, Trapper Hollinshead, Scott Shoop, Scott Wilson, Ryan Brown, Jeff Hoffner, Jamie Knepper, John Daniels, Timmy Souders, Josh Hall, Dustin Bivens, Morris Suders III, George Richards, Wes Howells and Scott Gordon.

Dion Miller and Jennifer Evans were united in marriage April 14 at Abundant Life Church in Peoria, Ill.

Gwen Sheldon of Long Green, Md., and Chris Ritchey of Texarkana, Texas, were united in marriage May 19 in the Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. Parents of the couple are Pastor and Mrs. Terry Sheldon and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Ritchey of Everett.

Harold and Helen DeShong celebrated their 50th anniversary on May 20 at Pepple’s Auction Barn.

Graduation exercises will be held August 24 at Chambersburg for members of the August class of practical nursing students from Franklin County Vo Tech. Among those scheduled to receive diplomas are Michele Hann, Wells Tannery; Diana King, Burnt Cabins; and Susan Kepper, Three Springs.

Dane Miller and Joan Peck were united in marriage June 9 at Needmore Bible Church.
