Wells Tannery Homecoming The Wells Tannery Homecoming will be on July 31, 2010. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. Chicken barbecue and other food will be served starting at noon. Music with Dick McConnell, Country Cousins and New Connections starts at noon and will last until 9:00 p.m. when the raffle tickets are drawn. There will be a cruise-in for cars, motorcycles and tractors, horse rides, kids activities, foulshooting and other basketball challenges, craft and flea market tables, and a horseshoe tournament. Benefit Concert Chris Woodward and Shin Diggin benefit concert for Mason Dixon Chapter Hunters Helping Kids at the Longhorn Salon and Dance Hall Shippensburg August 21, 2010. Doors open at 6.00 p.m. All procedes goes to Hunters Helping Kids. Tickets are $5 a person. Games, raffles and drawing will be available and kids can sign up for hunts. Bingo For Books Fulton County Library Bingo for Books will be held Thursday, July 22, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Needmore Firehall. Free snacks. Sponsored by F&M Trust and Schall & Bard, LLC.

Summer Reading Program A Summer Reading Program will be held Thursday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m., at the community room of the Needmore office of Tower Bank. Learn how to make a summertime refreshment! Join in for a special evening of Polynesian dance with Meeka and Tiffany Ahloe and family on Tuesday, July 27, at 6:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by Community State Bank.

Free Movie Night A free movie night will be held at Fulton County Library Friday, July 23, at 6:10 p.m. Please use the community room entrance. The movie is rated PG-13. Please stop in at the library or call 717-485-5327 to find out what’s playing.

Ben K-5K The fifth annual Ben K-5K run/walk will be held Saturday, July 31, at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church. Applications are available at Fulton County News, Keller’s Country Store, Edgewood Pro Hardware and Newman’s Market. Deadline to preregister is July 1. T-shirts available for sale race day. Trap Shoots Trap shoot practice will be held every Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Pistol and Rifle Club. The third Sunday of each month will be a 100-target shoot starting at noon.

Christmas In July Ride A.B.A.T.E. of PA, Keystone Chapter 56, is holding its annual Christmas in July ride on July 25, 2010. This year all proceeds will be going to the Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC). In the summer of 2008 Royal Family Kids camp opened in the area to benefit abused and neglected children. Donations would be apprecated. Please make a donation check payable to Keystone Chaper of A.B.A.T.E. of PA. In the notation please put Christmas in July 2010. If you have any questions please call me at 717- 372-4561.

Shade Gap Picnic The 127th annual Shade Gap Picnic will be held at Harpers Memorial Park, August 1-7. The annual parade will be held Monday, August 2, at 7:00 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling 814-259-3252 or www.shadegapfire.com.

Bus Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 is sponsoring a bus trip to Baltimore on August 10. The bus departs from the McConnellsburg Courthouse at 7:00 a.m. A stop will be made at Frederick, Md., at Bob Evans (on your own) at approximately 8:30 a.m. and arrive at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore around 10:30 a.m. The bus will depart the National Aquarium at 4:20 p.m. A stop will be made in Greencastle around 6:15 p.m. for dinner (on your own) at Ryan’s Steak House and arrive back in McConnellsburg around 8:30 p.m. Cost is $24 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under.

Bus Trip PA-R-Pac is sponsoring a bus trip to Atlantic City July 24. Leave the Legion at 6:30 a.m. and return at 11:00 p.m. Price is $60. In return you will receive a $22 refund and a buffet. Fulton House Museum Display The Fulton County Historical Society has a display of old kitchen utensils and local needlework at the Fulton House on temporary loan. Summer hours are every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with additional hours by request. The exhibit is free and includes the society’s permanent museum collection plus books, shirts and other items available for purchase.
