Fulton County Medical Center Occupational Therapy Department got a little help cutting the ceremonial ribbon to its new kitchen from long-term resident Helen Buterbaugh. Helen also baked monster cookies in the oven dedicated in the newly renovated rehabilitative services department. The renovation project was part of the specialty services project bringing all the Medical Center’s departments to one campus.

“The Occupational Therapy department is now able to better serve our patients with a fully functioning kitchen, bath and laundry facilities. Patients will be able to practice purposeful activities in a supervised setting. This will better enable them to perform activities of daily living safely in their homes,” explains Director Stephanie White. “Helen will be going home soon and we are thrilled to be able to better prepare her to be successful there. We are excited to be able to provide these services to our patients. We are so grateful, as a department, to the administration at FCMC for recognizing the value and need for occupational therapy services and for equipping us with the tools to better serve the community and our patients.”
