NEWPORT, Pa. (AP) – Officials say a central Pennsylvania woman was bit and scratched by a bear while walking her dog in a wooded area.

Game commission officials say the unidentified woman was treated after being bit Tuesday morning in Newport, Perry County. Spokesman Jerry Feaser says the woman was treated for a bit to her leg and scratches on her back.

The woman’s dog ran away and was uninjured.
