MHS Tap Dancers Needed The MHS musical this year will be the Broadway musical “42nd Street.” The show requires female tap dancers. This summer is a rare opportunity for girls in grades 7-12 at MHS to learn and experience tap dancing. There will be 10 tap lessons given and they are completely free. These lessons will include the use of tap shoes. Auditions will be held in November. Each girl will be required to perform a short tap routine as part of her audition. The lessons will be taught by two experienced high school students from James Buchanan High School. Lessons will be Tuesday and Thursday in July and August from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium July 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29 and August 2, 5, 10 and 12. Also in need of tap shoes. Anyone having shoes to lend or donate please call 717-485-3528.

Wells Tannery Homecoming Parade Entries Needed Wells Tannery Park Homecoming Committee is looking for antique car owners and tractor drivers to bring their vehicles to the Wells Tannery Homecoming parade July 31. All are encouraged to set up flea market and craft tables. More information may be obtained by contacting kkearley@frontiernet.net.

Christmas In July Christmas In July will be held Sunday, July 25, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Detrich-Brechbill Post No. 612 American Legion, St. Thomas. Food, beverages, music and vendors. Ride with Santa Claus. Meet at M&S Harley Davison, Chambersburg. Parade forms no later than 12:30 p.m. and leaves promptly at 1:00 p.m. Additional information may be obtained by calling Lora Wolfe at 17-372-4651. All proceeds benefit Royal Family Kids Camps, (camp for abused and neglected kids). Donation is $10 per person.

Free Movie A free movie will be shown Friday, July 9, at 6:10 p.m., at the Fulton County Library in McConnellsburg. Please use the community room entrance. A family-friendly G-rated Disney movie will be shown. Call or stop in at the library to find out what’s playing.

Angel Food Ministries There will be sign-up for Angel Food Ministries June menus and specials at Fulton County Catholic Mission. You do not have to order the signature box to order specials. Times will be Tuesday, July 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Wednesday, July 14, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, July 15, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. If you eat, you qualify. Museums Open Fulton County All-Sports Museum and the McConnellsburg Alumni Museum will be open Saturday, July 10, from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. at the old MHS Building during the McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association Car Show with yard sale/ bazaar sale in the gym. Please come and see all the new items that we have acquired. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Anyone interested in having a space in the old gym please contact Kathy Kendall at 485-0221.

School Supplies Fulton Catholic Mission will be collecting school supplies for students who attend the schools in Fulton County. The public dropoff areas are Fulton County Catholic Mission, Save-a-Lot, Snyder’s Insurance Agency, Dott Store in Warfordsburg, Keller’s Country Store, Hustontown and Park Station in Fort Littleton. The mission will have available free school supplies on Monday, August 23, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, at the social hall of St. Stephen Catholic Church in McConnellsburg.

Summer Reading “Splish Splash” with Tina Reeder and her canine friends of Murphy’s Pet Connection, sponsored by Phantom Fireworks, on Thursday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m., at the Needmore Branch of Tower Bank. A summer reading event will be held Friday, July 9, at 1:00 p.m. Cowans Gap State Park Amphitheater with park naturalist Beth Garner. Find out what lives in a lake. Cookie Dough Sale The Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a Butcher Shoppe cookie dough sale. The 3-pound container is $13, with seven varieties to choose from. Delivery date is August 12. Orders will be taken thru July 26. To order, call the Fulton County Medical Center registration desk and leave information.

Food Safety Workshop Penn State Cooperative Extension in Fulton County is offering a food safety workshop, “Cooking for Crowds: A Volunteers Guide to Safe Food Handing” on Monday, July 12. The workshop will be held at Mc- Connellsburg Lutheran Parish, 220 North Third Street, Mc- Connellsburg, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. To register, contact 717-485-4111 by July 8. Cost is $20 per organization and will include a manual, thermometer and refreshments.

Attn. Fair Participants Attention all fair exhibitors: Premium books are no longer being mailed to exhibitors. Please see local businesses to pick up this year’s copy. Remember: Livestock entries must be received by July 15, 2010. Please mail to Fulton County Fair; P.O. Box 246, McConnellsburg, PA 17233. Rabbit check-in will be on Saturday, August 14, at noon. All other entries will be accepted August 15 and August 16 at the fair office. Payment of premiums contingent upon allocation of state fair funds.
