Ag Appreciation Picnic Several Fulton County organizations will be sponsoring an ag appreciation picnic on Sunday, July 11, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion picnic grounds just north of McConnellsburg. This picnic will take the place of the annual Farm Bureau picnic and Farm City or Tri-Ag banquet. Local organizations supporting this event include the Fulton County Farm Bureau, Fulton County Conservation District, Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Penn State Cooperative Extension and Fulton County Milk Promoters. The event will include a free pig roast, volleyball and kids activities, including a pedal tractor pull. Pork, rolls, place settings and beverages will be provided. Please bring a covered dish to share with the group. No alcoholic beverages, please. An RSVP would be greatly appreciated by Monday, July 5. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. Festival A festival will be held Saturday, July 10, at Buck Valley Park with bingo and games and the band “The Incredible Whistle Pigs.” Kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. and festival will be from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Turkey Dinner A turkey dinner will be held at Clear Ridge Community Building Thursday, July 22, at 4:00 pm. Served will be homemade ice cream, pies and sandwiches will be available.
Chicken/Ribs Dinner Fulton County Democratic Committee will hold a chicken and ribs dinner Friday, July 16, at 11:00 a.m., at McConnellsburg Firehall. There will be chicken or ribs and roll for $6 or chicken, roll, two sides, drink and cake for $7. To pre-order call 717-573-2589.
Festival A festival will be held Saturday evening, July 10, at the Warren Township Community Grounds located near Mercersburg along Route 456. Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove is sponsoring the event to start at 4:00 p.m., featuring homemade soups, sandwiches, ice cream and baked items. Music will be provided by the Stoney Creek Blue Grass Band from West Virginia.
Festival A festival will be held at Richvale Methodist Church located eight miles north of Shade Gap along Rt. 35, Saturday, July 17, at 4:00 p.m. Barbecue chicken and homemade ice cream will be available. Music will be by the Bard family.
Ice Cream Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold ice cream festivals this year on July 17 and September 11. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be for sale. The festivals will begin at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome.
Center Festival Center United Methodist Church will hold its second festival July 10, at 4:00 p.m. The church is located one-half mile off Rt. 655 on Dublin Mills Road. Turkey or ham dinners will be served with all the fixings. Sandwiches, soup, cake, pie and homemade ice cream will also be available. Next festival is August 28.
Free Meal A free meal will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Third Street, McConnellsburg, the second Tuesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in for fellowship and good food.
