Summer Camp Benefits Abused Kids

To The Editor:

A.B.A.T.E. of PA, Keystone Chapter 56, is holding its annual Christmas in July ride on July 25, 2010. This year all proceeds will be going to the Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC). In the summer of 2008 Royal Family Kids Camp opened in the area to benefit abused and neglected children.

Every year, more than 3 million children in America are reported abused or neglected. One in seven Americans was sexually abused as a child. It happens, yet tragically, it is almost “accepted” – and only the most ghastly stories make the newspapers anymore.

But every day innocent children are forced to accept abuse as a fact of life – they are beaten, locked up, sexually abused, starved and tortured in an obscene variety of methods.

Every year in our area, hundreds of children are removed from their homes and placed in the foster-care system because of severe abuse or neglect. For these little ones, life has come to a dead end, even before it has begun. Some of their lives may never be salvaged, but there is hope for many of them; you can be part of their cure. Through Royal Family Kids Camps, you can lend them a hand.

This national organization, RFKC develops week-long summer camps for abused children who have been placed in foster care. For many of these children, their week at RFKC is the first time ever in their lives they feel security, warmth and love from dedicated adult caregivers. For them, it can be a lifechanging experience.

Abused children in our area need your help. Please lend a hand.

Donations would be appreciated. Please make a donation check payable to Keystone Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. of PA. In the notation, please put Christmas in July 2010. If you have any questions, please call me at 717-372-4561.

Together we all can make a difference.

Thank you,
