30 Years Ago From The Files Of June 26, 1980

’80 A still built by Richard Potts of Amaranth was fired up for the first time legally in the state of Pennsylvania last week. Potts said he has gotten

approval from the state to operate his still, with which he plans to make fuel alcohol for his farm machinery. Approval was given by phone and by a letter received last Thursday. The still is a small mobile unit, and Potts said its mobility was one of the biggest problems in getting a permit. Potts will use his alcohol to power his two John Deere tractors, Dodge pickup and Studebaker V-8- powered sawmill.
