Get well wishes to Kay Rosenberry, who is recovering from surgery. She spent several days in Harrisburg Hospital and is glad to be home.

Our sympathy is extended to Janet Brown and Joan Hershey on the loss of their mother.

Linda Grissinger Kelly, daughter of Esther Grissinger and the late Wayne Grissinger, was in Johns Hopkins Hospital last week where she donated a kidney to her nephew, Mike Layton. Both patients are doing well and will be recovering at home.

Buzz and Bea Covert attended a 90th birthday celebration at the home of Glen and Bonnie Foster in Hanover on Saturday for Mildred Leader Gutshall. Mildred, formerly of the Saltillo area, is the mother of Bonnie Foster, Kenny Gutshall and Diane Gamble.

Walnut Grove senior youth group sponsored a family day chicken barbecue at the fellowship building following worship services on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed and appreciated the chicken and baked potatoes Paul Schmidt prepared on his cooker.

Brayden Locke, son of Adam and Amanda Locke, celebrated his seventh birthday on Sunday afternoon. Joining in the celebration were Ruth Grissinger, Justin Kauffman, Justin Locke, Gordon and Donna Locke, Matt, Crystal, D.J., Logan and Abby Schauff and Adam, Amanda, Toryn and Cameron Locke.

Terri Grissinger is spending her summer picking lots of raspberries. She gets the desire for berry picking from the Fraker side of the family.

Lydia Souders recently traveled to New York City with friends from North Carolina for a roommate’s wedding.

Mamie Ramsey and Terri Grissinger attended the South Hills School of Business on Saturday for the graduation ceremony of former student Nicole Weko. Nicole received her associate’s degree in accounting, graduating with honors.

Visiting last week with the Steve and Karen Grissinger family were Bob Hoffman, Gordon and Donna Locke, Irene Park, Buzz and Bea Covert, Travis Madden, Ramon Martin, Brent Carlson, and Tom and Mamie Streightiff. On Sunday evening, the crew gathered to celebrate Tammy’s 26th birthday.

A severe windstorm passed through Maddensville this weekend, ripping trees to shreds near the Walnut Grove Church. Several neighboring properties also sustained wind damage to buildings and landscape.

Tom and Mamie Streightiff visited with Tim Streightiff in Washington, D.C., on Sunday. Chuck Streightiff visited with Tom and Mamie on Saturday.

Roger and Pat Ramsey and Wayne and Elaine Good visited with Bryan, Emily and Micah Ramsey last Sunday for Father’s Day.

A festival is being planned at the Clear Ridge Community Building on July 22. Turkey dinners, homemade ice cream and pies will be available. Maddison Wible spent few days visiting with Tammy Grissinger in Chambersburg last week.

Steve and Terri Grissinger were impressed by a rather sizeable bear crossing the field last Saturday on his way to a shadier spot to nap.

Tom and Mamie Streightiff and Steve and Karen Grissinger enjoyed an Altoona Curve game on Saturday evening. Visiting with others in their group, they discovered Jeff and Laurie Reider of Everett were familiar with Maddensville. Laurie is a sister to Veronica Patterson, wife of Jamie Patterson. Brothers Curt and Wade Patterson and families lives on same road and within a short distance of the Grissinger farm.
