John H. Eader Sr. Big Cove Tannery, 75

John H. Eader Sr., 75, of Timber Ridge Rd. Big Cove Tannery, died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.

He was born in Hancock, Md., on December 9, 1934, the son of the late Jacob Elwood and Margaret Ann (Mills) Eader.

He was the husband of Phyllis E. (Ragland) Eader, whom he married on August 29, 1956.

He worked as a self-employed milk hauler for 45 years before retiring in 1994. He was also founder of Eader’s Butcher Shop, Big Cove Tannery, Pa., and president and manager of the Owls Club 1762 in Hagers-town, Md., since 1978. He enjoyed hunting, dancing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son John H. Eader Jr. , companion of Carol, of Big Cove Tannery; daughter Clara L. Wetzel, wife of Robert of Big Cove Tannery, Pa.; sons: Wyatt E. Eader of Big Cove Tannery; Jacob R. Eader, husband of Kristy of Buck Valley, Pa.; Cheyenne R. Eader Sr., husband of Penny of Big Cove Tannery; Michael A. Eader Sr. of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., and David L. Eader, husband of Loretta of Big Cove Tannery; daughter Dolly A. McCumbee, wife of William Jr. of Berkley Springs, W.Va., sister Clara Ethel Fogal of Waterfall; and sister Gladys Baer of Chambersburg; 21 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob Eader, and sisters: Mary Stevens, Thelma Mellott and Susan Hinckle.

Funeral services will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Mc- Connellsburg, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, with Rev. David Fagley, Rev. Rodney Truax and Pastor Russell Hoffman officiating.

Interment will be at Rehoboth Cemetery, Tollgate Ridge, Pa.

There will be visitation on Wednesday, June 23, from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg. There will also be one hour of visitation before the service at the funeral home.
