Arthur Wayne “Andy” Anderson, 78, of Sipes Mill Rd. Needmore, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown, Pa..
Arthur was born in Creekside, Pa., on August 2, 1931, the son of the late John M. and Edna G. (Orr) Anderson.
He was the husband of Erma M. (Mellott) Anderson, whom he married on December 23, 1962.
He was a member of Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore. Andy loved wood working and was an avid baseball and football fan. He retired from U.S. Silica in Berkeley Springs, W. Va., in 1995 after 25 years of service. Andy served in the U.S. National Guard during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Deanna K. Wenschhof, wife of Michael, of Gettysburg, Pa., son David W. Anderson, companion of Jennifer, of Harrisonville, sister Sara Miller of Abbottstown, Pa., sister Eleanor Lemmon of Indiana, Pa., sister Ruth Harmon of Corfu, N.Y,, and brother John Anderson of Creekside, Pa. He is also survived by two grandaughters Amber and Shanna Wenschhof of Gettysburg, Pa., and his best friend, his black Lab, Domino. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judith and Linda Anderson and sisters Betty Rupert, Mary Anderson and Jean Bytner
Religious service will be held at at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, with Rev. William Swope and Rev. Rodney Truax officiating.
Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore.
There will be visitation on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville, There will also be one hour of visitation before the service at the church on Friday.
