Two Senior Men To Admire

To The Editor:

This is a letter about two people of the older generation who I truly admire. I don’t think there is enough said about our elders, people like these two men that our grandkids will never know. The first one is Floyd Palmer. I have known Floyd as long as I can remember. I went to school with his son, Dale. I saw this man, at 90+ years young leaving the gas station next to my dealership the other day at probably 7:30 a.m. driving his red dump truck. A few days later (sunny, hot and humid), I saw him turning into the senior citizens center on his motorcycle. Then a few days later, I saw a picture of him in the paper with a few other men playing their musical instruments at the senior center. I am thinking “wow, 90+ and busy enjoying life.”

The next man is my friend and neighbor, Marvin Northcraft (the greatest neighbor in the USA). This miracle man I often see when I look out my window at 6:00 in the morning working in his garden. He mows acres and acres of grass weekly, walks the track daily (sometimes twice a day), cuts wood, helps the neighbors pick apples and doesn’t miss a SFHS basketball game when it is basketball season. He is constantly on the move at 75+ years young.

I marvel at these two men and when the FDA approves a Marvin Northcraft- Floyd Palmer pill I will be standing first in line.

Doug Shaw Sr.
