This summer there is a rare opportunity for girls in grades 7-12 at MHS to learn and experience tap dancing. There will be 10 tap lessons given, and they are completely free. These lessons will include the use of tap shoes. This will provide an excellent opportunity to get a jumpstart on the musical. Auditions will be held in November.

Each girl will be required to perform a short tap routine as part of her audition. At the conclusion of the summer tap lessons, each girl will receive a free DVD of the routine. She may practice throughout the fall in preparation for her audition.

The lessons will be taught by two experienced high school students from James Buchanan High School. The two students, Katie and Kristie Adkins, also helped with a few dances in “Cinderella.”

The lessons will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in July and August. They will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The dates are July 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 and August 2, 5, 10 and 12. Please use the outside auditorium door. You can attend all the sessions or just a few.

Help from the community with this project is greatly appreciated. The school is in need of tap shoes for the students to use during these lessons.

Anyone having tap shoes to lend or give to the musical, please call Noreen Mann at 717-485-3528.
