Public Opinion’s 2010 Baseball All-Stars have been announced. Named to the second team were Nathan Swope - McConnellsburg; Derek Younker - Southern Fulton; and Dylan Gelvin

Forbes Road. Honorable mentions went to Evan Appleby - McConnellsburg and Zach Morton - Southern Fulton.

Big Cove Tannery Lutheran Church held its ice cream festival on Saturday evening with wonderful weather and a nice turnout of folks.

Kay McGarvey spent an overnight visit with former high school friend Nancy Wible Hewet of Mechanicsburg and enjoyed the Jubilee Street Fair on Thursday.

Public Opinion 2010 Girls Softball All-Stars from this area were honorable mention - Sam McQuade and Lisa Deshong - McConnellsburg; and Bailey Elbin and Kelsey White - Southern Fulton.

Betty Palmer is undergoing treatments for cancer and the prognosis looks good. Betty has good days and bad days after the treatments, but is doing quite well and not in failing health as it was reported in this column last week.

Brian and Brandi Mellott will observe their eighth wedding anniversary on June 25.

The Willing Workers of the McConnellsburg Luther- an Church had a successful yard and food sale last week.

Lee and Sharon Glazier observed their 51st wedding anniversary on June 20.

John and Karen Bishop and Bob and Cheryl Wible spent last week on a bus tour to New England where they took a ferry ride to Martha’s Vineyard, visited Cape Cod, the historic towns of Hyannis Sandwich, Province Town and Chatman, JFK Museum, Eastham Windmill and other sights.

Sympathy goes out to the families of Myrle Trial, an accident fatality victim, and Betty Jane Sheeder Mellott, who passed away last week. Also, the families of Raymond “Dutch” Strait and Morris Ramsey.

The Public Opinion 2010 All-Star soccer stars from McConnellsburg were Sam McQuade, first team; Rachel Kendall, second team; Casey Pollock, Nikki McQuade and Libby Strayer, honorable mention.

Visiting with Lee and Sharon Glazier and other relatives and friends in the area were Sharon’s sister and husband Don and Cleo Donahue and their son, Steve, and wife Sharon and two children, all of Virginia. They celebrated Don and Cleo’s belated 65th wedding anniversary at the American Legion on Saturday night.
