Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

We all enjoyed a very nice weekend. The weather sort of gave a sign that summer is fast approaching. We all would like to see a little rain.

Our sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Janvier Covert, who passed away on Saturday.

The family of the Herbert and Kate Berkstresser held their family reunion at the Forbes Road Lions Park on Sunday. A very nice crowd attended. All enjoyed a good time. This will be an annual reunion held next year, so mark that day as a special day.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will host an open stage on Saturday, June 26, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Why not take the evening and spend it at the air-conditioned, no smoking hall and share your talent or just come out and enjoy the evening. The admission is free and they also have food for sale.

Charlotte Crouse is now at home recuperating from major surgery at Chambersburg Hospital. Please keep her in your prayers for a full recovery.

Sorry to hear Betty Malot had the misfortune of a back injury on Monday. We send speedy recovery wishes her way.

The Northern Fulton Burial Association held a special meeting on Monday evening at Hustontown Firehall in order to approve some members for membership. Anyone wanting to join should call Nancy Traxler at 987-3608.

Garden hint: Double your yields of squash, cucumbers and corn by using sheets of aluminum foil mulch. The reflected light repels insects while enhancing plant growth.
