Phyllis S. Batzel Everett, 81
Phyllis S. Batzel, 81, Everett, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at NCH North Naples Hospital in Naples, Fla.
She was born June 14, 1928, in Wells Tannery, Pa., daughter of William Ellis and Mildred (Bridenstine) Sprowl.
On December 31, 1949, at Raven Run Church of the Brethren, she married Ellis E. “Pete” Batzel, who preceded her in death September 22, 1983.
She worked for many years at the R.P. Smith Elementary school as a teacher’s aide. Prior to this, she worked in Washington, D.C., for the FBI as a fingerprint specialist.
She was a member of Community Grace Brethren Church in Tatesville, Pa.
Surviving are her daughters: Kay, married to Donald Clarke, of Anderson, S.C., and Diane, married to Douglas Cogan, of Osterburg, Pa.; and three sisters: Dorthea Kathleen (Kay) Jones of Williamsport, Md.; Helen “Pat” Wilt, of Hopewell, Pa.; and Judith A. Sprowl of Ebensburg, Pa.; as well as sister in-law and brother-in law Donna and Mike Byam of Oxon Hill, Md.; two grandchildren: Megan (Clarke) Vutsinas, married to Chris Vutsinas, of Charlotte, N.C. and Drew Clarke of Anderson, S.C.; and three nephews and two nieces. Extended family resides in Fulton, Huntingdon and Bedford counties.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 106 W. Penn St., Bedford, Pa., on June 25, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Raymond Short presiding. Friends and family will be received at the church an hour before the service. Interment for burial will follow the service at Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
