Garry L. Brechbiel Mercersburg, 64
Garry L. Brechbiel, 64, Mercersburg, died Monday, June 7, 2010, in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born August 31, 1945, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Harry A. and Dorothy L. Querry Brechbiel.
He was a 1964 graduate of Southern Huntingdon High School.
He retired from the maintenance division of Letterkenny Army Depot following 29 years of service. He then worked as a parts runner for ACS Precision of Mercersburg, and he owned and operated an excavating and hauling business.
He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
His memberships include: St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church of Upton; life member, past commander and currently Home Association president of American Legion Post 517 and life member of VFW Post 6241, both of Mercersburg; F&AM Orrstown Lodge #262 and NRA.
His personal interests included hunting, deep sea fishing, gardening, restoring/ refurbishing trucks, tractors, vehicles and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Linda M. Kuhn Brechbiel, whom he married November 26, 1968; three daughters: Jodi L. (Mrs. Dani L.) Martin and Jan M. (Mrs. Robert III) Nelling, both of Mercersburg, and K. Jeannie (Mrs. Ellis F.) McQuade, McConnellsburg; six grandchildren; a sister, Delores Jean Goodman, Huntingdon; and a brother, Dennis Brechbiel, Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Richelle Ann and a brother, Fred Brechbiel.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 11, in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. Rev. Alan Wilson and Rev. Reuben Egolf officiated. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW 1599 conducted military graveside services.
