From The Files Of June 14, 1990 ’90 McConnellsburg Borough Municipal Authority has announced that work will be completed this week in the installation of the authority’s
new bolted steel reservoir located next to the old open reservoir on Reservoir Road. A five-man work crew, working for the past two weeks, will finish erecting the reservoir sometime this week.
Many questions were raised by residents at a public meeting last Thursday, June 7, to discuss the Palmer Group’s proposal to construct a minimum security detention facility in Dublin Township to house inmates from Fulton County, the state and other counties. The range of concerns moved beyond the normal “not-in-my-backyard” reactions which such proposals inevitably produce.
McConnellsburg Evangel Assembly of God Church broke ground on its new $300,000 church building project opposite the Medical Center on West Maple Street.
An old McConnellsburg tradition was given new life last weekend when the Strawberry Festival returned to the courthouse lawn. Folks will remember that the festival used to be an annual event sponsored by the local Bandparents’ Association but had not been held for many years until the Chamber of Commerce picked up sponsorship for the two-day event.
Southern Fulton was named the District 5, Class AA softball champions June 1 with a 12-4 win over Everett.
Heather McCarty and Joseph Hollenshead were united in marriage January 13 at Hancock Assembly of God Church. Parents of the couple are Robert and Carole Mc- Carty Jr. of Hancock and Frank and Carolyn Hollenshead of Needmore.
