Bluegrass Festival The second annual bluegrass festival will be held June 19 at the Artemas Community Park, located behind the American Legion on Big Creek Road, 12 miles south of Clearville. Food and entertainment at 3:00 p.m.; horsehoe pitching contest at 3:00 p.m.; homerun derby at 5:00 p.m.; Revised Edition at 6:00 p.m. and 4-wheeler raffle at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Artemas Youth Baseball League.

Beginning Plastic Canvas Beginning plastic canvas calls Tuesday, June 22, at Fulton County Library on the third floor meeting room from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please call 485- 5327 to register for this free class. Space is limited.

Summer Reading Program Fulton County Library Summer Reading program kickoff concert will be Friday, June 18, at 10:00 a.m. in the library’s community room with Jim Rule. Join in for a morning of musical entertainment. This free concert is fun for the whole family! Sponsored by the VFW.

Open Stage Hustontown Fire Co. will hold a open stage Saturday, June 26, at 6:00 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Airconditioned an smoke-free. Everyone is welcome to share their talent. Free admission.

Soccer Registration Warfordsburg Area Youth Soccer will hold fall registration July 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Warfordsburg Community Park. Registration fee is $30. More information may be obtained by calling 294-3001.

Ben K-5K The fifth annual Ben K-5K run/walk will be held Saturday, July 31, at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church. Applications are available at Fulton County News, Keller’s Country Store, Edgewood Pro Hardware and Newman’s Market. Deadline to preregister is July 1. T-shirts available for sale race day. Teen Night Teen night will be at Fulton County Library Friday, June 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be wii gaming, crafts, pizza and movies. All free. Registration is not required. Open to all 13-19-year-olds. Please call 485-5327, ext. 202, for further information.

Scrapbooking For Tweens Scrapbooking for Tweens (ages 8 and up) will be held in Fulton County Library Community Room Monday, June 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This summer reading program event is sponsored by the American Legion Post and Unit. Call 485-5327 for more information.

Bass Fishing Techniques Bass fishing techniques for tweens ages 8 and up with Darrick Brumbaugh will be held Friday, June 25, in the Fulton County Library Community Room at 2:00 p.m. This program event is sponsored by The Fulton County News. More information may be obtained by calling 485-5327.

Bus Trip A bus trip is planned for August 10 by the North End Garden Club to Shalom Rodef Biblical Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh. See and learn about plants used in the ancient Near East and Israel. All are welcome. A $25 deposit by June 30. More information may be obtained by calling Sheila at 573-2905. Bus Trip American Celebrations bus to the Longaberger Homestead will be Saturday, June 26. Leaving from the Mc- Connellsburg Firehall at 6:00 a.m. Arrival at home approximately 11:00 p.m. Trip cost is $80 which includes roundtrip transportation, breakfast on the bus, snacks and drinks on the bus, movies, games and fun. Very exclusive baskets to be given away on the bus. Special events at the Homestead. Anyone bringing five guests gets a special prize. Trip benefits the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Hunter-Trapper Course The Fulton County Hunter/Trapper Education Course will be offered June 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and June 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Pistol and Rifle Club. Bluegrass Music Bluegrass At The Old Home Place will be held Saturday, June 26, at 5:00 p.m. Free admission, no drugs or alcohol permitted, bring a lawn chair and bug spray, rough camping available. Featured will be Guilford Station, Bluegrass Gospel Band, The Back Creek Valley Boys, and The New Connection Bluegrass Band.

Summer Art Camp Kids will be painting, sculpting and creating just like their favorite artist. The jungle-themed camp will have the kids drawing animals, going on nature walks, sketching plants, learning about bugs and making artwork from other cultures. The camp will be held July 27, 28 and 29 at the T.W.E.P. building on the James Buchanan campus, Mercersburg. Cost is $55. Art Camp Power of the Dot Art Camp will be held at Forbes Road High School June 17 and June 24 and 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students in grades 4-10 will create works of art centered around the dot. Some of the projects will include Aboriginal dot paintings known as “Dreamings,” pierced plaques, impressionist dot paintings and a dot mural. Eligible participants are 20 students in grades 4-6 (June 17 only); 20 students in grades 7-10 (June 24 and 25). Grade levels apply to the next school year. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost is $15 for twoday member campers or $18 for nonmembers; and $8 for one-day member or $10 for nonmembers. Participants should bring a hammer and a bagged lunch. Registration and payment must be received by June 15. Members include residents of Ayr, Dublin, Licking Creek, Taylor, Thompson, Todd townships and the borough of McConnellsburg. All other residents in- and out-of-county are considered nonmembers. Spring Fling A spring fling will be held Saturday, June 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church in Shade Gap, located one mile north of Sunny Ridge Station on old Rt. 522. Golf Tournament The Fulton County Community Christian School will host the Ninth Annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Great Cove Golf Course, McConnellsburg, Pa. This tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000.
