Earl H. McDaid
Earl H. McDaid, 96, Hustontown, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at his residence.
He was born in West Finley, Pa., April 28, 1914, the son of the late Homer and Mary (Lamberson) McDaid. He was the widower of Anna B. (Shoemaker) McDaid, whom he married on July 3, 1942. She preceded him in death December 14, 2004.
He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville. He was a certified lay speaker for 21 years. He served with the Boy Scouts as a cubmaster for many years.
He worked as a carpenter for 35 years. He also served many public service offices. He was a Taylor Township supervisor for several years, served on the Fulton County Selective Service Board and most recently served as Taylor Township auditor. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a corporal in World War II.
In his spare time he enjoyed making knives and canes.
He is survived by his daughter, Judith Rusack, wife of Peter, Hustontown; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mona Jean McDaid; a sister, Dorothy J. Kapetsky; and three brothers: Victor, Donald and Robert McDaid.
Funeral services were held at Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8. Pastor William Kuhn officiated. Burial was made in Fairview United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, was in charge of arrangements.
