From The Files Of June 7, 1990 ’90 Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. members Thomas Lane and James Chesnut Jr. died as the result of carbon monoxide poisoning
and Richard Hershey of carbon monoxide poisoning and drowning, according to a joint investigation conducted by Fulton County Coroner Russell C. McLucas. The three firefighters died May 1 while attempting to clean out a well at the Taylor Township residence of Nellie Brown, two miles southwest of Hustontown. Cpl. John Zechman of the state police said that all other rescuers who entered the well that night without air packs showed elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their systems in tests conducted that night.
Southern Fulton exploded for eight runs in the first inning and held off Everett 12-4 to capture the District 5-AA softball title in the championship game played June 1 at Bedford.
Kristy Richards, daughter of Dennis and Nancy Richards of town, graduated suma cum laude from Cornell University on Sunday with a degree in life science.
Diplomas were presented to 54 seniors at Southern Fulton High School’s commencement June 4 and 29 seniors were awarded diplomas at Forbes Road High School on June 1.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gordon of Needmore announce the birth of their first child, a son, Dane Thomas, on May 25, at Washington County Hospital.
