James W. McPeak

Hagerstown, 63

James William “Jimmy” McPeak, 63, Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Hancock, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his home.

He was born May 31, 1946, in Hancock, the son of the late James Edward Mc- Peak and Frances “Sally” Almedia Weller.

He was a 1964 graduate of Hancock High School.

He was employed by Staples Distribution Center in Hagerstown.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of W.D. Byron Post 1936 VFW of Hagerstown and American Legion Post 26 of Hancock.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Ellen Munson McPeak, married August 12, 1989, of Hagerstown; stepmother Mary Frances McPeak, Needmore; daughter Dana D. Hottle and her husband, Rodney, Hagerstown; daughter Marna D. Swisher of Berryville,Va.; daughter Leslie Messersmith of Littlestown, Pa.; sister Vivian K. Bernard and her husband Dick, Needmore; brother James E. Reed and his wife, Mary, of New Castle, Pa.; brother G. Scott McPeak and his wife, Sharon, of Martinsburg, W.Va; grandchildren: Tyler, Kyle, Amanda and Zachary; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor H. McPeak.

Graveside services were held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Tuesday, June 1, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Dick Bernhard officiated. Military honors were provided by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, Hagerstown.
