Bruce C. Wilkins
Bruce C. Wilkins, 80, Everett, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at his home.
He was born November 25, 1929, in Everett, a son of the late Dewey and Vera (Mearkle) Wilkins.
On May 3, 1958, in Mt. Joy, at the Crossroads Brethren In Christ Church, he married the former Alma I. (Smith) Wilkins. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1994.
He is survived by one daughter, Robin R. Wilkins, Everett; one son, B. Eliot Wilkins, married to Robin L. (Olberg) Wilkins, Dover, N.H.; grandchildren: Hannah, married to Shem Kagema; Rachael, married to Sean Labbe; Jael, Joanna, Sonja and Jarred; greatgrandchildren: Abigail Kagema, Samuel Kagema, Hunter Labbe and Hayden Labbe; two brothers: Arlyn Wilkins, Mcconnellsburg and Archie Wilkins, married to Shirley, New Berlin.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister and a brother, Alfred Wilkins.
He was of the Brethren In Christ faith.
He served two years in the service at the South Mountain TB Hospital. He was employed as an electrician for various companies for many years until his retirement in 1992. He served as missionary to the Cheyenne Indians in Hammon, Okla. This was one of the highlights of his life.
He enjoyed hunting, farming, fellowshipping with others, gardening and sharing the fruit of his garden with others. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 29, at the chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Everett. Pastor John Geyer officiated. Burial was private on the Wilkins family farm beside his wife.
