From The Files Of May 24, 1990 ’90 McConnellsburg and surrounding communities will hold Memorial Day services at Union Cemetery on Monday, sponsored by the local

American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

McConnellsburg Fire Co.’s carnival ended on Saturday night, marking the first time in three years that heavy rains have not dampened the enthusiasm of local carnival-goers.

Judge Kaye has scheduled a hearing for June 12 to hear the Southern Fulton School District’s petition to raise taxes beyond the 10 percent increase allowable on existing properties in the year following a countywide reassessment.

The rainy spring weather continues to cause problems in preparing the first section of the new lined landfill in Broad Top Township for opening. The first section, weather permitting, is expected to open sometime around June 15.
