Mark Smith ended his winless slump at Williams Grove Speedway with a win in Friday night’s 410 Sprint car feature.
Smith raced from his 11th starting spot to take the lead on Lap 16 and never looked back in his ninth career track win over Fred Rahmer, Don Kreitz Jr., Chad Layton and Greg Hodnett.
Pat Cannon won the 358 Sprint feature over Kevin Nouse, Eric Tomecek, Cory Haas and Amy Ott. It was Cannon’s second win of the year at the Grove after starting 12th.
Jeremy Miller made a rare Bedford Speedway start Friday night and ended up taking the 25-lap Late Model feature win. Miller was looking to get some track time before Friday’s World of Outlaws invasion at the track and dominated the event for the win over Matt Parks, DJ Myers, Jeff Rine and Jack Pencil.
Rick Singleton won the Bedford Limited Late Model feature over Daniel Cornman, Mike Duck, Tim Smith Jr. and Matt Howsare, with Harrisonville’s Steve Bard 11th.
Jeff Rohrbaugh captured his first win of the season at Trail-Way Speedway with a win in the 358 Sprint car main Friday night. Rohrbaugh’s 22nd career win came over Mike Bittinger, Joe Trone Jr., Brad McClelland and Tim Wagaman.
Mother Nature controlled Saturday night racing events in the area as Hagerstown, Lincoln, Port Royal, Susquehanna, Selinsgrove and Williams Grove speedways all lost shows to the rain.
The fourth annual Keystone Cup 410 Sprint Series is this weekend, with Grandview Speedway kicking off the week with a Wednesday (May 26) show followed by Hagerstown Thursday, Williams Grove on Friday, Lincoln on Saturday, Selinsgrove on Sunday and Port Royal on Monday. Stevie Smith is the defending KC champion.
That’s a wrap on another week. It’s hard to believe that the official summer season will kick off with this weekend’s Memorial Day holiday! Be safe, remember our armed forces and those who lost their lives for us and we’ll catch you next week. E-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
