Bluegrass Festival The second annual bluegrass festival will be held June 19 at the Artemas Community Park, located behind the American Legion on Big Creek Road, 12 miles south of Clearville. Food and entertainment at 3:00 p.m.; horsehoe pitching contest at 3:00 p.m.; homerun derby at 5:00 p.m.; Revised Edition at 6:00 p.m. and 4-wheeler raffle at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Artemas Youth Baseball League.

Strawberry Festival The 20th annual Strawberry Festival is on schedule for Friday and Saturday, June 11 and June 12. Activities begin at 10:00 a.m. each day. Good food and fellowship each day. Friday noontime will feature the live country Western gospel music of “The Country Cousins” in the parking lot of the old Fulton County Medical Center. Friday night presents the religious music of “The Country Christians” beginning at 6:00 p.m., plus the annual Talent Contest. The popular Hot Dog Eating Contest is on tap for Saturday at 12 noon, followed by the new Baby & Toddler Contest. Vendor spaces are still available. Bus Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 is sponsoring a bus trip to Baltimore on August 10. The bus departs from McConnellsburg Courthouse at 7:00 a.m. A stop will be made in Frederick at Bob Evans (on your own) at approximately 8:30 a.m. and arrive at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore around 10:30 a.m. The bus will depart the aquarium at 4:20 p.m. and stop in Greencastle around 6:15 for dinner at Rayn’s Steak House and arrive back in McConnellsburg around 8:30 p.m. Cost is $24 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Charity Basketball Game The seniors of Southern Fulton High School will hold the fifth annual senior vs faculty charity basketball game on June 4. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the high school gym. The public is invited to attend. The cost for adult is $3 and students are $2. The proceeds from the game will benefit the family of Southern Fulton senior Harry Strock, whose mother tragically died earlier this year. The night will also feature a 50/50 raffle and a half-court shootout.

Hunter-Trapper Course The Fulton County Hunter/Trapper Education Course will be offered June 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and June 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Pistol and Rifle Club. Bring a bag lunch on Saturday. This is the second of three traditional courses for the county. For general information only contact the South Centrall Region at 814-643-1831.

Senior Center Activities Activities for the month of June at McConnellsburg Senior Center are as follows: nickel bingo, 10:00 a.m. - June 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25 and 28; blood pressure screening, 11:00 a.m. - June 3; Belleville, Reedsville and Allensville, 7:00 a.m. - June 9; senior club meeting, 11:30 a.m. - June 15; breakfast at K’s Place, 7:00 a.m. - June 16; Mountain Gate, Walmart, Waynesboro, 10:00 a.m. - June 17; nutrition/craft class, 1:00 p.m. - June 17; Chambersburg, 8:00 a.m. - June 24; dime bingo, 10:00 a.m. - June 30. All seniors are encouraged to attend (or at least just listen to the short senior club meeting just before dinner at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15. Membership is not required.

Softball Camp A softball camp will be held June 14-16, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Camp will be free to all girls ages 7-14 playing on any BiValley girls softball team ($30 for others). Camp concludes with a bus trip to Shippensburg Univeristy to watch the 2010 PIAA softball championship games on June 18. Spring Fling A spring fling will be held Saturday, June 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church in Shade Gap, located one mile north of Sunny Ridge Station on old Rt. 522. Spaces are available for the flea market, crafts and bake sale. More information may be obtained by calling 814-259-3900.

Career Camp The Fulton County Area Vocational School will be offering a free Career Camp on June 10, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the McConnellsburg High School campus, for youths entering grades 7 thru 9 during the 2010-2011 school year. Youth may select two areas of career concentration out of the following: agriculture, allied health, childcare, carpentry, business occupations, drafting and design and welding. Youth Day Mason Dixon Chapter of Hunters Helping Kids will be having its annual youth day on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Fulton Country Pistol And Rifle Range. Registration will began at 8:30 a.m. and activities start at 9:00 a.m. A light breakfast will be served along with lunch. Children will be taught crossbow, 22 clay pigeons, as well as PSP and many more to be announced. Needmore Fire Co. will be there as there will be a mock tree stand accident. Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7:00 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

Football/Cheerleading Registration Youth football and cheerleading registration for Fulton County Cowboys for ages 5-12 will be held Sunday, June 27 and July 18, at the American Legion in McConnellsburg from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling Hollie at 717-658-3563 or Damon at 301-573-1139.

Golf Tournament The Fulton County Community Christian School will host the Ninth Annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Great Cove Golf Course, McConnellsburg, Pa. This tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000.
