Clear Ridge Methodist Church Anniversary Clear Ridge United Methodist Church is now making plans to celebrate its 150th year anniversary during the month of October 2010. Anyone who may have information, pictures or stories regarding local history of the church, surrounding community, stores or schools, please call 717-987-3266. It is hoped to develop a narrative history of the church and surrounding community of significant events over the past 150 years. The members are interested in families who have contributed to the community.

Decorating Graves American Legion Post 155 in Artemas will be decorating veterans graves Memorial Day weekend at the following churches: Sunday, May 30 - Robinsonville, 1:30 p.m.; Stevens Chapel, 1:45 p.m.; Rock Hill, 2:15 p.m.; Clearville Union, 2:30 p.m.; Pleasant Union, 2:45 p.m.; Zion Lutheran, 3:00 p.m.; Frame Church, 3:15 p.m.; Chaneysville Community, 3:45 p.m.; Prosperity, 4:15 p.m. and Mt. Zion, 4:45 p.m.; Monday, May 31 - Shreves Chapel, 10:00 a.m.; Bethel Christian, 10:20 a.m.; Fairview Church, 10:40 a.m.; and memorial services at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Day services will be held at the legion, located on Big Creek Road, next to the community park at 11:00 a.m. The ladies auxiliary will serve lunch around noon and special music will be at 2:00 p.m. Balloons, face painting, crafts and door prizes.

Memorial Day Services Fairview Church, Artemas, will hold Memorial Day services Monday, May 31, with a speaker at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Lunch will be served in the dining hall. Outdoor music will follow. Bring lawn chairs.

Memorial Day Services The 66th annual Memorial Day services will be held at the Wells Valley United Methodist Church on May 31 at 11:00 a.m. The speaker this year will be Rev. Donnie Cross from the Wells Valley Presbyterian Church. There will be readings and musical selections from members of the surrounding area churches. A light luncheon will be provided after the service.

Buck Valley Memorial Service Annual Memorial Day services for Buck Valley will be held Sunday, May 30, 2010, beginning at Buck Valley Christian Church at 9:00 a.m., proceeding to Hendershot cemetery, then to Amaranth Brethren Church, then to the Lutheran Church and ending at the Methodist Church with service starting at 11 a.m. Speaker will be John Zechman, LTC retired.
