Fulton County Cowboys 3-On-3 Tournament A Success

Saturday, May 15, 2010, the Fulton County Cowboys youth football and cheerleading teams held their first of many 3-on-3 basketball tournaments at the Fulton Alumni Gym in McConnellsburg.

The tournament was well attended, with 10 teams featuring a mix of alumni, students and residents competing and participating from Southern Fulton, Forbes Road, Central Fulton and very talented teams from Greencastle and James Buchanan.

The format was a threeperson team, with one sub allowed. Teams are co-ed and mixed by all ages 13 and up. The brackets are created randomly. The games are 10 minutes, or first to 10 (by ones) in a double elimination bracket format.

The final four were the Devils from Greencastle, the Cowboys, the Rainmakers and Off Constantly, all from the McConnellsburg area.

The Cowboys won the tournament champion honors in a great fought game over The Rainmakers, requiring two overtimes. Though many games were very close, the Cowboys were undefeated in the tournament and openly challenged all comers on July 10 as tournament champs.

The next event is Saturday, July 10. Team check-in time is from 10 a.m. to to 11 a.m., with the games starting promptly after. The Cowboys’ football cash raffle, which is currently circulating, will be drawn by a player that day before the championship game.

The Fulton County Cowboys youth football team is adding cheerleading squads to their football teams in 2010 and are raising money to outfit all the new participants. Gym rental for this event was donated by John Glazier of G&P Distributors.
