Biker Airlifted Following Crash

A 1976 BMW R90 motorcycle operated by 63-year-old Paul Sanders was sideswiped on Monday, May 10, causing the Harrisonville man to be flown to Altoona Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

State police, McConnellsburg, reported Sanders was stopped in the southbound lane waiting to turn into his driveway along Waterfall Road when a southbound 2000 Mercury Cougar driven by Helen D. Watson of Broad Top was unable to come to a full stop. Watson, 47, swerved, struck the side of Sanders’ motorcycle and travelled onto the berm, where her car struck an embankment.

Sanders was using a helmet during the 3:41 p.m. accident in Taylor Township. Watson was wearing a seat belt and escaped harm. She will be cited by state police with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
