Ex-Coach Accused Of Trying To Fix Youth Basketball

ENOLA, Pa. (AP) – Pennsylvania State Police are accusing a former churchleague basketball coach in the Harrisburg suburb of Enola of trying to bribe referees to rig games in his favor.

Investigators filed charges Thursday against 45-year-old Michael Kman for allegedly trying to get the officials to help the Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church boy’s basketball team last year.

Court records say Kman contacted two referees and offered them $2,500 to fix two games, and promised more if they showed they could be trusted with lower-level contests.

Investigators say Kman admitted to trying to influence the officials and expressed frustration that his team hadn’t been getting a fair game.

Kman is declining comment. He’s charged with solicitation to rig a publicly exhibited contest, rigging a publicly exhibited contest, and harassment.
