Variety Show Cast Needed Would you like to be a part of the summer community variety musical Friday and Saturday, July 23 and 24, at 7:00 p.m.? Everyone is invited to be a part of the cast and crew. Due to schedule conflicts and God’s leading, the summer community musical “Children of Eden” has been changed to a variety show and the weekend has been changed. Various acts such as comedy, drama, choral numbers, interpretive dance, praise bands, etc., are needed. The weekend will include a meal, games, an encounter room, etc. Anyone interested in being a part of the show or the weekend activities should call 717-485-4050 or 717- 485-4318 by Monday, May 17.
Carwash/Bake Sale A carwash and bake sale will be held May 29 at Save-A-Lot in McConnellsburg from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.There will be baked goods, chicken corn soup, hot dogs, soda and water. Proceeds benefits Boy Scout Troop 43. Donations only for the carwash. Quarts of soup will be available.
FCCCS Baccalaureate Fulton County Community Christian School will hold baccalaureate services Thursday, May 26, at 7:00 p.m. Guest speaker will be former FCCCS administrator Rev. Russell Cheek. Family, friends and the general public are invited to share in celebrating with the 2010 graduating class. The school is located at 8159 Great Cove Road, Needmore. Decorating Graves American Legion Post 155 in Artemas will be decorating veterans graves Memorial Day weekend at the following churches: Sunday, May 30 - Robinsonville, 1:30 p.m.; Stevens Chapel, 1:45 p.m.; Rock Hill, 2:15 p.m.; Clearville Union, 2:30 p.m.; Pleasant Union, 2:45 p.m.; Zion Lutheran, 3:00 p.m.; Frame Church, 3:15 p.m.; Chaneysville Community, 3:45 p.m.; Prosperity, 4:15 p.m. and Mt. Zion, 4:45 p.m.; Monday, May 31 - Shreves Chapel, 10:00 a.m.; Bethel Christian, 10:20 a.m.; Fairview Church, 10:40 a.m.; and memorial services at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Day services will be held at the legion, located on Big Creek Road, next to the community park at 11:00 a.m. The ladies auxiliary will serve lunch around noon and special music will be at 2:00 p.m. Balloons, face painting, crafts and door prizes.
Buck Valley Memorial Service Annual Memorial Day services for Buck Valley will be held Sunday, May 30, 2010, beginning at Buck Valley Christian Church at 9:00 a.m., proceeding to Hendershot cemetery, then to Amaranth Brethren Church, then to the Lutheran Church and ending at the Methodist Church with service starting at 11 a.m. Speaker will be John Zechman, LTC retired.

FR Book Fair All are welcome to attend the Forbes Road Book Fair May 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. outside the Forbes Road cafeteria. Scholastic books are buy one, get one free and used books will be on sale at a reduced cost. Baked goods and beverages for sale. There will also live entertainment.
Can Drive Fulton County Community Cavaliers 4-H group is having its first aluminum can drive during the month of May. Donations can be dropped off at Dibert’s Metal along Route 522 north during regular business hours. All proceeds will go to a local mental health organization. Electronics Recycling Event An electronics recycling event will be held Saturday, May 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the old elementary school, Warfordsburg. Recycle your unwanted/obsolete electronics equipment. Almost all electronic devices accepted. Televisions have a $25 handling fee, other electronics are free. Memorial Day Services Fairview Church, Artemas, will hold Memorial Day services Monday, May 31, with a speaker at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Lunch will be served in the dining hall. Outdoor music will follow. Bring lawn chairs.
Clear Ridge Methodist Church Anniversary Clear Ridge United Methodist Church is now making plans to celebrate its 150th year anniversary during the month of October 2010. Anyone who may have information, pictures or stories regarding local history of the church, surrounding community, stores or schools, please call 717-987-3266. It is hoped to develop a narrative history of the church and surrounding community of significant events over the past 150 years. The members are interested in families who have contributed to the community.
